Marine Basics First Aid

Basic two-day course offering an overview of first aid and CPR skills for the marine/fishing industry. Course meets the requirements of Transport Canada outlined in Transport Publication (TP) 13008. Designed for any person who wants to obtain a rating certificate, endorsement, or a Master or Chief Mate limited certification, and for those providing first aid on board a vessel engaged on a near-coastal voyage, class 2, or on a vessel on sheltered waters.

Assessment of needs of ill or injured persons and threats to own safety
Appreciation of body structure and functions
Positioning of person
The unconscious person
Resuscitation techniques (including CPR C)
Control bleeding
Management of shock
Burns, scalds, and injuries caused by electricity
Rescue and transport of person
Other topics including improvising bandages, rescue in enclosed spaces, infectious diseases, and personal health and hygiene

100% attendance and participation.
Successfully demonstrate all course competencies (Hands on)
Passing a closed book knowledge written test evaluation, with a minimum 75% mark.

Marine Basic First Aid certificate (digital certificate)
3-year certification in Marine Basic First Aid & CPR Level C, equivalent to Standard First Aid & CPR Level C, and AED, and a Transport Canada certification in Marine Basic First Aid

Blended Course

one day online and one day in-person training

A Blended Learning course combines the benefits of combining both online training and in-person / in-class training into one course. Blended Learning allows you to complete half of your course online and other half in-class. Those who don’t have the time to attend 2 day in-class training for Marine Basic First Aid Course can now just attend 1 day class with Blended Courses. The Blended Training Program allows for a portion of the course content to be delivered to participants outside of the classroom through online training.

Course instructions:

The certificate provided through Blended learning will be same as full in-class training for Marine Basic First Aid and CPR-C courses.
Online access will be delivered to you via email from Red Cross.
It is the participant’s responsibility to ensure they have received the online course link from Red Cross. If you don’t see any email with the link within 2 days of registration, please call us at (905) 528-6000 or email at cpr.help.line@gmail.com.
The online portion of training must be completed before you attend your in-class training.
Starting from the day you receive the online course link, you will have until your in-class course date to complete the online portion.
First you Register online on our website for Blended First Aid or CPR course and select your in-class date and location for the course.
After you receive online access, you will need to complete the online portion of course in your own time on your own device.
You must bring either a printed or a digital copy of the completed online course certificate to your in-class session for instructor to verify.
